VCC Summer Sings Day Camp

This July was our first annual VCC Summer Sings Camp.  Here’s what the singers worked on throughout the week:

At the VCC Summer Sing Camp, participants were introduced to foundations of healthy vocal technique, while learning music games, rounds and songs. They explored the world of music literacy and learned how to sing a simple melody, as well as how to improvise one. The focus of the Music Appreciation element of the camp was “The Carnival of The Animals” by Camille Saint-Saens. Children listened to the music, moved to it, learned about orchestral instruments and did crafts using the theme of the carnival animals. Most of all, participants made friends and learned that music can be a powerful tool to describe the world around us and to bring us together.

The Victoria Children's Choir is a Member of Choral Canada and the BC Choral Federation.

We would like to acknowledge that we gather on the unceded, ancestral lands of the Lekwungen speaking peoples – the Songhees and Esquimalt First Nations, who have stewarded these lands and waterways since time immemorial, and whose connection to the land continues to this day. We are grateful to live, learn, raise our families, and make music on these beautiful lands. We would also like to acknowledge our Métis, Inuit and urban Indigenous partners and friends who call these lands their home.
