How do auditions work?Auditions for the Concert Choir, Recital Choir and Youth Ensemble are held annually in May/June. You can also request an audition by contacting our Executive Director. On audition day, your child should come prepared to sing a favourite song for our Artistic and/or Music Director in order to determine a fit with our Recital Choir, Concert Choir or Youth Ensemble (based on experience, interest, and ability). Each assessment usually takes about 15 minutes and we try to keep it as relaxed and stress-free as possible. Parents can use this time to chat with our administrative staff and other parents to understand how choir life works.
-
Do I have to attend an audition for the Prelude Choir? No – this is a non-auditioned ensemble and you simply have to register. Registration is on a first come, first served basis up to 90 children. You can request information about registration by contacting our Executive Director.

What is fundraising for?The Victoria Children’s Choir is a registered charitable organization and over half our operating budget is raised through grants, donors, and fundraising. We try to keep fundraising to a minimum for our families (one book of raffle tickets for all choristers). This allows us to keep our monthly fees quite low, and include things like weekend choir camps in our programming at no additional cost. If our Concert Choir is planning a Tour, additional fundraising will take place specifically to offset the cost of travel for our families.
