The Choirs

Over eighty young singers ages seven to eighteen – making beautiful, powerful music.

Our three ensembles – the Concert, Recital, and Prelude Choirs – provide a customized repertoire of study. From September to June, students take part in vocal development, performance experiences, and lessons to understand music history, composition, and theory.

  • Singers age 12 and older, who have a practiced understanding and love of choral music, study challenging pieces as they master their vocal abilities. Concert Choir instruction is designed to achieve an international-standard of singing.

  • Season starting September 2017:
    • Rehearse twice every week as a group, for two hours on both Tuesday (5-7:00 p.m.) and Friday (4-6:15 p.m.), from September through June. Instruction is led by our Artistic Director.
    • Learn advanced vocal, choral and music skills.
    • Improve their music literacy.
    • Refine their choral and vocal technique.
    • Sing technically-demanding compositions that feature multiple parts and many foreign languages.
    • Perform at signature concerts and special appearances.
Concert choristers exhibit the epitome of the Victoria Children’s Choir singing standards – for posture, breath, diction, resonance and tune, and fundamental music skills. The dedicated group takes a principal role in annual Classical Christmas and springtime World of Song Signature Concerts, high-profile community ceremonies, events, guest appearances, and special occasions.

Led by Artistic Director, Madeleine Humer, Concert Choir members receive a unique combination of expertise and encouragement needed to make music a rewarding, life-long adventure. The Choir is often invited to sing with leading symphony orchestras, in performances of major works, and tours both nationally and internationally.

  • For children ages 10-12, this auditioned ensemble builds on existing vocal interests and talents.
