"And the birds sang..."
On December 4th, 2017, our choirs shared delightful poems and melodies at Christ Church Cathedral to a sold out house! The inspiration for this concert came from the many Christmas carols describing the songs of the birds, which heralded the birth and enchant us today, especially when heard so rarely during the winter season. They were led by the sound of a flute, played by Soile Stratkauskas – Founder and Artistic Director of the Victoria Baroque Players. That remarkable instrument which has the ability to mimic the wonders of warbles, chirps and trills we hear in nature. Guest artists also included Donald Hunt – accomplished organist and newly appointed Director of Music at Christ Church Cathedral, as well as Josh Layne – who has played extensively across Canada, the US, in Europe and South America.
